To Call, Or Not To Call, That Is the Question

I am an impatient person.

I have a hard time waiting for lots of things, but waiting for the phone to ring is the absolute worst. The trouble is "The Rules" say I can't initiate phone calls or e-mail... I can only return them.

I don't know what to make of that.

I mean, really, I think some of these rules are idiotic. But I guess I'm so afraid of doing something stupid (or overly aggressive) that I'm actually following them.

Who's the idiot now?

Go for a walk, go out with the girls, surf the web. But do not, I repeat, DO NOT pick up the phone unless it is ringing! I don't agree with all of the "rules", but I do agree that you MUST NOT initiate

I was a very successful "dater" for almost 15 years (16-29). I "always" had a boyfriend, had dates to all of the events I wanted to attend, had great guy friends who would let me hang out with them while all of the other girls were sitting at home, and had several opportunities to tie the knot before I decided (at 29 1/2) that I was ready to do so. I would orchestrate "chance meetings" at events (always with another attractive and attentive guy-friend or a group of VERY SITC-type girlfriends). I would even orchestrate mutual friends suggesting that we all go on "group outings" (THEY always made those calls). But I NEVER called someone I was interested in dating until we were WAY into a relationship.

I never considered it to be "playing games" but rather, I knew that I was quite simply "playing it smart". I know it sounds corny, but just trust me. Would I steer you wrong on something of such GREAT IMPORTANCE? Oh yeah, Yoga is good, too....
