Uninteresting aside: one of my friends in high school was a distant relative of Poe. He was named Robert Edgar Poe.

Yep, that house is right downtown in Shockoe Bottom...oldest standing residence in Richmond. Of course, 2/3rds of the city was built after 1865.

You know, Poe really did get around, didn't he?

He spent some time on Sullivan's Island... a nice little off the beaten path kind of beach just up the road from Charleston.

Poe's my kind of guy.
